Lost - The eyes

So you know how everyone has that one TV show that they’re addicted to for a while? And no matter what you tell yourself about the amount of work you’ve got due, you always find yourself giving in for ‘just a little bit’, which then turns into at least three episodes? And when you tell yourself that tonight, you shall sleep early so you can wake up completely and utterly refreshed the next day, but your mind somehow convinces you to watch just one episode for the night and you give in, only to later realise that you’ve lost complete track of time and that you’re meant to be getting up in less than an hour? Yeah, mine happens to be Lost. I am stuck on the show! I absolutely adore Jack! And Sawyer, but I’m mainly Team Jack. Oh, and I dislike Shannon very much. And don’t even get me started on Kate and Ana Lucia!  I’m already getting ahead of myself, back to my point. So it hit me, last night when I was supposed to have fallen asleep at least an hour prior, that the cast have some wonderful eye colours. Yes, it took me about three seasons to make the connection between something I watched everyday – and night, and work. Yeah, don’t judge me. So I’ve decided I’d do a piece on the show. Here goes. As I may have already implied, Jack Shephard is my absolute favourite. I mean, who doesn’t love hot doctors? The guy was a born leader, and...well, let’s just say those weren’t the only winning qualities he was born with. Hey now, I was talking about his gorgeous eyes. The good doctor has the most amazing hazel eyes. They do differ a little from normal hazel eyes however, as the actor has brown pools surrounded by green. Which is why there is such a huge debate about his eye colour; the green in Jack’s eyes pick up on whatever colour he is surrounded by. This has caused a variation in his eye colour, hence the debate.   Even in this picture, his eyes seem to be picking up on the red decoration he is surrounded by. He’s a beau, is he not? He is one doc I wouldn’t mind visiting. There’s just something about a tattooed, bad ass doctor, isn’t there? To get Jack’s eyes, try Lime Green from the Blendz range. These would give anyone a mixture of different colours, which blend together to create a merger of naturally beautiful colours. Alternatively, you could try Light Hazel for a softer, more subtle colour. My second favourite character in the entire cast happens to be Sawyer. I know he isn’t the most amicable of characters, but he always has a reason for whatever mischief he gets up to. Besides, he’s a wounded soul; we’re meant to nurture and love him. Oh and he’s fallen for that witch’s trap – that’s Kate, for those of you who don’t realise how much I dislike her. Despite his bad temper, poor social skills and tough exterior, the conman is a giant softie. Speaking of soft, has anybody noticed the deliciously soft green shade of his eyes? Sawyer’s eyes often change depending on which emotion he’s portraying; dark green when angry and often blue-green, when upset or surrounded by water,- which should be most of the time as he lives on a beach.   For James’ indulgent eye colour, try Amazon Green from the Infusionz range, as this contains both green and blue pigments, which – in the right light, should give you different eye colours. This is bold choice to go with however, so for a softer colour, try Blue Jade. This has the same effect, but is an option for those who don’t wish to steal the limelight. This next member of the cast isn’t particularly my one of my favourites, but he has the most intriguing personalities of the entire crew of castaways. Yup, I am indeed speaking of one John Locke. It seems only fitting that the most puzzling of characters has the most mystical eye colour. The cripple-gone-hunter is one mysterious fella; all this talk about faith and the island’s plans for him was really creepy at first. But then I realised, he was named after an extremely religious 16th century, fate-crazed philosopher. Now that makes more sense. Besides, all he wanted was to belong, seeing as he grew up in foster care and then found his parents only to have them con him out of his kidney. And on top of that, his own father threw him out of an eighth storey window in an attempt to kill him. That’s enough to make anyone want to stay on some uber creepy island.   John’s eyes are an intense, soft green. They do seem to change throughout the series, but it’s mostly a mixture between an intense green and a soft blue. For a more unique colour, try Pacific Turquoise from the Infusionz range. This colour consists of some coral-like pigments, hence the name. This would be perfect for trying to reflect white sands and clear waters. All this talk about beaches makes me want to go Hawaii ASAP!

Lost - Coloured eyes

As there many a reference to eyes in Lost, - what with all the close up shots of the eyes in almost every episode and the whole “I looked into the eye of the island…” business. Maybe we were meant to pay attention to the eye colours? Well, I have been- mostly because of the loveliness of the colours instead of deeper meanings, but still. As I looked more carefully at the colours, I realised that the eyes were used to portray the most emotions and to give away hints about whomever they belonged to. Sometimes, there were even personality traits in them.   For example, the most intense of all of the eyes on the island, happen to belong to one lucky mother. Well, not so lucky considering where she is and all, but quite lucky regarding the history of all the women who were due to have babies on the island. The cute blonde has two orbs so intense; they could pierce into your soul. This quite fitting for a mother who, at the end of the day, has to be able to look into someone’s eyes and know if they’re lying or not. Hey, she caught Charlie and Desmond out a few times. A little freaky, huh?   Claire’s eyes are best achieved with Two Blues from the Infusionz range as the pigmentation is bright in the middle and the darker towards the outer rings. And as you can see in the photo above, that’s what Claire’s eyes do too. If you’d like to with a paler colour, try Blue Slate. This would create a lighter colour, which Claire sometimes sports throughout the series.   One person with some extremely captivating eyes is, well was, Boone. Oh how I loved Boone! He was ever-so-sweet to his sister; whom he kind of loved in a completely different way than was expected. That weirded me out a little, but he’s Ian Somerhaulder so we can forgive His Royal Hotness, right? If I had to choose one thing about Boone, it would be his eyes. Yes, I realise I could’ve picked his immaculate abs, but his eyes are such a gorgeous shade of blue I wouldn’t mind him having a beer belly if he still had those dreamy eyes.   For Boone’s striking orbs, you should try Blue Rush from the Blendz selection. These will give you a deep, alluring colour. For a lighter colour, try Sea Blue from the same range. These give the same effect, the only difference is that they are lighter. So if you felt like alternating between the two, you could! If you wanted to be more unique, however, you could try Sapphire Blue from the Blendz collection as it is a stormy sea colour, but would be suitable for any weather. Alternatively, you could go for Azure Blue, for an intensely blue colour.   Another person with some awesomely deep blue eyes is former rock star Charlie Pace. Despite his drug addiction and forced blunders, many have come to love Charlie for his commendable bravery and relentless protectiveness over Claire and Aaron. The happy Brit kicked his addiction and proceeded to becoming the happy-go-lucky one amongst the castaways, along with Hurley. Forever lifting everyone’s spirits with both his soothing guitar skills and those bottomless, blue spheres of his. Charlie was one of my favourite characters. He was just so cute! Even before the island, he spent most of his time looking after others. Even after he found out he was going to die, he sacrificed himself to save everyone else. My hero.   To achieve the heroic Charlie’s eyes, try Blue from the Illusionz selection; these have outer rings to make your eyes look bigger than they actually are, - which is a bonus, seeing as Charlie is almost always wide-eyed. For a colour that is a little different, try Azure Blue from the Intense collection. These will make even the darkest eyes look brighter for a more dramatic effect.

Nicki and Mariah – Battle of the Queens

As we all know, the new series of American Idol aired last week and with it, the promise of a new winner; a winner to conquer our hearts and take the world by storm. But whilst the show is traditionally focused on the contestant’s talents and struggle to fame, this season a spanner has been thrown into the works. Yes, I am indeed speaking of the beef between two of the biggest divas in the music industry; Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj have been tense on the judges’ panel and the feud doesn’t seem to end anytime soon. And of course, their fan bases have picked up on this and are backing their own idol. Nicki’s Barbz have been tweeting and Facebooking their hatred towards Mariah’s fandom. And the hate is obviously reciprocated, which is no less than what we expected for Mariah’s soldiers. But the hostility doesn’t end at the judge’s panel. Oh no, it has caught the eyes of many magazine editors and chat shows. It has been mentioned in almost every celebrity chat show and has, in turn, extended to other matters such as which of the two has the better hair, more stylish wardrobe and, of course, who has the better hits and collaborations. I, for one, would love to find out who the superior woman is. Both women have blown up considerably since their big breaks and have made names for themselves. And along with all of this fame and fortune came drama and reputations.  Whereas Nicki is known for her outrageous outfits, ridiculously huge and colourful hair as well as a rather large – and artificial might I add, derriere. Carey is known for her more elegant and suave wardrobe and more natural looks.  Nicki has always made it clear that she likes to stand out by wearing bright colours in both hair and clothes and extreme coloured contact lenses. Nicki has worn many different coloured contact lenses such as dark, sensual grey. Very much like MesmerEyez’s Grey from the Illusionz range. These have an outer ring to make your eyes look bigger and more glamorous.  They are available in both 1 and 3 month lenses. You can get these for the low price of £12.99 / $15.00, which includes the eyewear care kit. Here, Nicki wears a bright blue to match her navy-blue tinted hair and to make her eyes pop due to the contrast between the darkness of her hair and her bright coloured eyes.  Her make-up has also been done with a natural hue to avoid over-doing the look and to keep it simple. To get this eye colour, you could get Blue Rush from the Natural Blendz range for a subtle effect. But if you are willing to go for the brighter and braver option like Nicki has done, then you should look into Two Blues from the Infusionz range. Mariah, who is more focused on looking elegant – due to her age no doubt, would wear the simpler, more natural colours. Mariah would suit light browns such as Honey from the MesmerEyez Naturalz range. Seeing as Mariah always keeps her make up light and simple, it would only be logical that she wears coloured contact lenses that either bring out her eyes or blends in with her hair and complexion. Forest Hazel from the Intense range would be highly recommended. These are available in both 1 and 3 month lenses. You could secure these with the extremely affordable price of only £14.99 / $17.00 which includes the eyewear care kit. So far I’m not sure who I’d back in this dispute. One thing I am sure of however, is the flexible use and almost magical effects of MesmerEyez coloured contact lenses. Enough to transform just about anyone from an ordinary individual to a show-stopping beauty. Wear your lenses with pride and confidence whilst you keep up with the ever-changing pace of fashion. These lenses are the quick, ideal – and not to mention cheap, alternative to finding yourself in a never-stopping world.

Celebrities who wear coloured contact lenses

While it is common in the Arab and Asian communities to wear coloured contact lenses openly, especially among celebrities, it’s a little bit different in the Western world and particularly in Hollywood. Celebrities in Hollywood do everything to appear as natural as they can and more often than not deny having done any plastic surgery or botox. However, this is far from the truth as many celebrities have done everything from plastic surgery to less invasive procedures such as changing hair colour and eye colour. More celebrities than you probably would have thought wear coloured contact lenses! And why wouldn’t they, it such a cheap and quick way to get a completely different look. Plus, it’s so much fun! We don’t understand why many celebrities keep it a secret. We should be proud of our natural eye colour, it’s what makes us individual and different from everyone else! Did you know that Megan Fox wears coloured contacts? That crisp blue colour that she is famous for isn’t real, in fact, she has a natural subtle green colour.  For Megan’s natural green colour try Sea Green from the Naturalz range or to get her blue eyes, try Two Blues from Infusionz. Lindsay Lohan, who is naturally green-eyed, is also a fan of wearing coloured contact lenses. She is pictured here with a clear blue eye colour. To look like natural Lindsay try Amazon Green from Infusionz, and to get her blue eyes, try Blue Rush from Natural Blendz Britney Spears is another superstar who enjoys changing her looks up with the help of some coloured contact lenses. Personally, we think she looks better with her natural brown eyes! Brown from Illusionz resemble Britney’s natural eye colour, but if you prefer her blue eyes, try Blue from Illusionz. Last but certainly not least, the British supermodel Naomi Campbell religiously wears light brown contact lenses, fooling most people. The dark skinned beauty’s natural eye colour is dark brown. To get Naomi’s light brown eyes try Hazel Bronze from Infusionz and to get her dark brown colour, try Oak Brown from Blendz. While it is fun to wear coloured contact lenses and pretend that you’re a green-eyed girl for a day, we say ‘wear them with pride!’.  Don’t be ashamed of wearing coloured contacts, let people know you’re using them instead of fooling people like most of these celebrities. Don’t forget to have fun with your lenses!

Does Kim Kardashian wear coloured contact lenses?

Kim Kardashian is the 21st century Marilyn Monroe. She is famous for her love life as much as for her reality TV career, but most of all, she is famous for her Kurves (with a capital K!). People love to gossip about her looks, the endless topic of discussion being whether she has had any plastic surgery or not. Kim even went as far as X-raying her bum to show the public that she does not have any implants in there! Her perfectly symmetrical face has left people wondering whether it is possible to look like her without having anything done to her face. Kim, however, sticks to her story, saying that she has tried botox, but never gone under the knife. Miss Kardashian is also famous for her amazing eyes and has unofficially trademarked long voluminous eyelashes that reach up to the sky. Not only does she have long upper lashes but she also has very long defined bottom lashes. Although Kim never admits to having anything done, the gossip says that Kim gets her eyelashes done with mink hair extensions. This would explain her unrealistically long lashes. Is this her secret to looking flawless at all times? What about Kim Kardashian’s eye colour; does she wear coloured contact lenses? In pictures of her with no make-up on, her brown eyes look darker than in other pictures. Is this an effect of make-up or does Kim like to wear contact lenses which make her eyes look brighter and bigger?  Take a look for yourselves.  If Kim is wearing coloured contact lenses, we suggest her trying Platinum Indigo from the Infusionz range or Emerald Green from Blendz. With her dark hair and complexion, she would look great with dark green or grey eyes. If you want Kim Kardashian’s chocolate browneyes, try Golden Brown from Natural Blendz          Kim with long lashes and chocolate brown eyes                     Kim with no make-up on and darker eyes
