What are mini sclera contact lenses?
Mini sclera lenses are larger than standard contact lenses and are designed to cover most of the white part of your eye (the sclera). This creates a bold, high-impact look that's popular for cosplay, SFX makeup, and Halloween.
They’re slightly smaller and more comfortable than full sclera lenses, making them easier to wear for extended periods. If you're looking for a dramatic effect that’s still wearable, mini scleras are a great option. And if you’re unsure which style suits your look, we’re always here to help guide you to the right lens.
What’s the difference between mini sclera and full sclera lenses?
The main difference lies in coverage and comfort. Full sclera lenses cover the entire eye, including the white (sclera)—for an extreme, otherworldly effect. Mini sclera lenses, on the other hand, cover most of the white part of the eye but leave a small area uncovered, offering a bold look that's a bit easier to wear.
Both options are perfect for Halloween, cosplay, or SFX makeup, but mini scleras may be more comfortable for longer wear, as they don’t obstruct your vision in the same way full scleras can. If you're unsure which type will work best for your costume or comfort level, we’re always happy to help you choose the right fit for your look.
Can you see clearly through mini sclera lenses?
Yes, you can see clearly with mini sclera lenses. Unlike full sclera lenses, which cover the entire eye (including the pupil in some styles), mini scleras only cover the white part of your eye. The centre of the lens remains clear, so your vision stays unaffected.
They’re designed for high-impact looks without compromising visibility, making them a popular choice for cosplay, Halloween, or special events.
Are mini sclera contact lenses safe to wear?
Yes, our mini sclera lenses are designed to be worn comfortably between 2 - 6 hours, making them a great choice for events like cosplay expos, Halloween, or photoshoots. Their smaller size compared to full sclera lenses means they’re less likely to cause irritation or dryness during extended wear.
That said, comfort can vary depending on your eyes and how well the lenses are cared for. We always recommend following proper hygiene and taking breaks if needed. If you're unsure how long you should wear them or want help finding the right pair for all-day wear, we’re always happy to assist.
Do I need a prescription for mini sclera contact lenses in the UK?
All of our mini sclera lenses are non-prescription and purely cosmetic, meaning they don’t correct vision, they’re just for changing your eye look.
While cosmetic lenses are considered medical devices in the UK, you don’t need a prescription to buy from us. However, it’s still important to use them safely and follow all wear and care instructions.
If you’re new to mini scleras or unsure which style is right for you, we’re always here to help guide you, so you can get the bold look you want, comfortably and confidently.
How long can I wear mini sclera lenses?
We recommend wearing mini sclera lenses for no more than 2–6 hours at a time. These lenses are larger than standard contacts, covering more of the eye for a dramatic effect, which can reduce oxygen flow and increase sensitivity with extended wear.
Because of this, they’re best suited for short-term use, such as events, photoshoots, or cosplay. Always follow proper hygiene and care guidelines, and give your eyes plenty of time to rest before and after use.
If it’s your first time wearing mini scleras or you’re unsure how long to wear them for your specific event, we’re happy to offer guidance to help you wear them comfortably and safely.

What characters or costumes are best for mini sclera lenses?
Mini scleras are incredibly versatile and perfect for bringing bold, fantasy-inspired looks to life!
We offer colours like red, white, and black that pair beautifully with dramatic costumes, think vampires, demons, or anime-style characters (some fans have nailed the Illidan Stormrage look recently using black mini scleras).
How do you insert and remove mini sclera lenses safely?
Mini sclera lenses are a bit larger than standard lenses, so taking your time during application and removal is key. Always start with clean, dry hands and place the lens on the tip of your finger. Look straight ahead or slightly upward and gently place the lens on the white part of your eye, then blink to settle it in place.
To remove, look upward and gently slide the lens down to the lower white of your eye using your fingertip, then pinch it out softly. Use fresh solution every time, and store your lenses in a clean lens case after each use.
If you’re new to special-effect lenses or need extra guidance, we’re always here to help make sure your experience is as safe and comfortable as possible.
